Higher Education Value Orientation Research

Based on the outline to the higher education value orientation, this research carried on the review and the analysis to the Chinese and foreign higher education value orientation's evolution course, expounded the basic rules of evolution, characteristics and tendency of the higher education value orientation, carried on the ponder to the higher education value orientation's basic basis and the essential requirements from the three dimensions: the life development of pedagogue, the social development and the higher education development, proposed an ideal higher education value orientation.Higher education value orientation is one kind of value tendency or intention which the main body follows when judging or choosing higher education value on the basis of their own development needs. It is not only different from, but also intrinsically linked with higher education value ,viewpoint of higher education value and viewpoint of education value.Studying the higher education value orientation evolution course, under the impacting of the idea of social development and the higher education development, higher education value orientation was the social orientation which took the tool rationality as the instruction.Under the guidance of tool rationality, people's main standard of judging higher education value was the higher education activity imparting knowledge or meeting the needs of a particular aspect of science and technology, social culture, economic development or political system and structure. This had neglected the functions and effects of higher education to the social's comprehensive, coordinated and sustainable development, neglected the concern of higher education to the pedagogue's life development and higher education self-development, made higher education's basic function cannot obtain as it should, higher education activity lost the validity of existence.Carrying on the value choice of higher education, the basic objective point is the effect which higher education brings to the social development, the pedagogue' life comprehensive free development and the higher education's own development, and this is the basis of ideal higher education value orientation. In other words, the higher education value orientation which is requested by the time should fully reflect the basic ideas of contemporary social's development, pay attention to the pedagogues' life development and the essential features of contemporary higher education's development. From this significance, the ideal higher education value orientation should be: higher education independent value orientation under the guidance of value rationality.
