The quality of the dissertation is an important symbol that reflects the quality of postgraduate education. Besides the research condition, study circumstance and team management and the educational ability of supervisor, the quality of the dissertation also is related straightly with the motivation and conduct of the postgraduate. The work of the dissertation is very independent and explorative and it is different from the work for assignment of general course study. The effort that postgraduate make in the study is a key factor that affects the quality of the dissertation. The author of this dissertation chooses a particular angle to probe the postgraduate education and to discover the relationships of the quality of the dissertation with student's achievement goal orientation, achievement motivation, and self-efficacy and therefore, to examine the influences on the quality of the dissertation by the factors. The author made a survey on the student's achievement goal orientation, achievement motivation, and self-efficacy among 618 undergraduates and postgraduates ( 392 boy student and 226 girl students ; and for research fields, 483 science students and 135 arts students ) by questionnaires. Through the analysis of the investigation, the research draws following conclusions:First, there are differences of graduates'achievement goal orientation, achievement motivation, self-efficacy due to gender, age,major, academic background , employment history and career plan. It is embodied as: the score of the learning goal orientation of the male postgraduate students is higher than that of the female postgraduate students. The male postgraduate students tends to be more successful than the female ones, the score of the achievement motivation of the male ones is significantly higher than that of the female students. The self-efficacy sense score of the male postgraduate students is much higher than that of the female ones. The art students'score in the achievement goal orientation is significantly higher than that of the science students; the science students'score in the achievement motivation is much higher than that of the art one; the science students'score in the sense of self-efficacy is much higher than that of the art ones. The achievement of art students is validated higher than that of science ones. The art students are more able to tend to avoid failure than the science ones.Second, there are close relations among the achievement goal orientation, the achievement motivation, the self-efficacy and the general performance. Learn goal orientation during the achievement goal orientation, achievement verifying, society support present positive correlation with the quality of the dissertation; especially the quality of the dissertation is prominent to the goal orientation of community responsibility and main effect of self-efficiency sense. Community responsibility goal and self-efficiency sense present prominent positive correlation with dissertation quality, the achievement escaping present negative correlation with the quality of the dissertation. Avoiding failing present negative correlation with the quality of the dissertation notably.Third, the achievement goal orientation influences the general performance through the self-efficacy and the achievement motivation. It is embodied as: community responsibility goal during the achievement goal orientation exert a positive influence to the quality of the dissertation directly. Avoiding failure exert a negative influence on the quality of the dissertation directly. Learn goal orientation, society support goal exert a positive influence to the quality of the dissertation indirectly through community responsibility goal; the achievement escapes exert a negative influence on the quality of the dissertation indirectly through avoiding failure. The self-efficiency sense can exert a positive influence on the quality of the dissertation directly or indirectly through the community responsibility goal.
