Academic performance has always been one of the hotspots in basic education research in China, and the study of factors affecting academic performance has also undergone a transition from intellectual factors to non-intelligent factors.Among many non-intellectual factors, learning motivation has a good predictive effect on academic performance.Goaloriented theory,as a research hotspot in the field of motivation, has become a research trend due to its close connection with students' personality traits and academic performance. The study takes achievement goal orientation as a predictor, and explores the mechanism of achievement goal orientation on mathematics academic performance. In the choice of mediating variables, combined with literature analysis,we can see that on the one hand, students with different goal orientations have different confidence and ability in learning mathematics,so they choose mathematical self-efficacy as the mediating variable for achievement goal orientation and academic performance;Because student's goal orientation also affects students' learning behavior, mathematics reading strategy is chosen as another mediating variable for achievement goal orientation and academic performance. The study used 451 high school students as research objects, using achievement target vector tables, mathematical self-efficacy scales, and mathematical reading strategy scales as research tools, based on goal-orientation theory, using correlation analysis, regression analysis, and structural equations.Other statistical analysis methods have examined the relationship between achievement goal orientation, mathematical self-efficacy,mathematical reading strategies, and academic performance, and the single intermediary and chain intermediation between mathematical goal self-efficacy and mathematical reading strategies between achievement goal orientation and academic performance effect. The specific research conclusions are as follows:(1)In the simple mediation model, mastery approach, mastery avoidance, performance approach, and performance avoidance goals can indirectly predict academic performance through a single mediation effect of mathematical self-efficacy and mathematical reading strategies.(2)In multiple intermediary models, mastery avoidance and achievement avoidance goals can directly predict academic performance negatively. The direct impact of mastery and achievement close to the goal orientation on academic performance is not significant.(3)Mastery approach, mastery avoidance, achievement close, and performance avoidance goals can indirectly predict academic performance through mathematical selfefficacy.(4)Mastery approach, achievement close, and performance avoidance goals can indirectly predict academic performance through mathematical reading strategies.Mastery avoidance goals cannot indirectly predict academic performance through mathematical reading strategies.(5)Mastery approach, mastery avoidance, achievement close, and performance avoidance goals can all predict academic performance indirectly through the chain-mediating effect of mathematical reading strategies through a sense of mathematical self-efficacy.
