New Curriculum standard claims that the key of literary education is to develop the ability of appreciation, but limited knowledge is hard to undertake the task of literary education. Now it is possible to enlarge the range of Chinese literary because of the development of the new theory about literary. In order to meet the demands and to reach the aims of education in literature required by New Curriculum, this article introduces the narratology theory into Chinese reading teaching in high school, to explore the techniques such as narrators, point of views , time, ironic narrative and to analyze how they are used in the novels, so as to improve students reading level and ability of literature appreciation.The first paragraph shows the present situations of the reading teaching , pointing out that it is necessary to introduce the narratology theory into reading teaching by analysing the differences between the current goal and the present situation of teaching novels. The second paragraph briefly accounts for the production and development of Narratology Theory as well as the significance of it to the realization of the reading aims. The third paragraph is the focus of this article, firstly discussing the concept of narrators, point of views , time, ironic narrative and other main theories ;secondly explaining how to apply them in practice.
