Research On Characteristics Of Teachers' College Education Serving For Rural Area

In the last century, China established a great number of teachers' colleges which characterized with higher education, teacher specialist, localized. With these characters which nicely adapt to contemporary China, especially the localized, the teacher colleges cultivated numbers of excellent rural junior high school teachers. After 1990s, accompany with the development of society and economy, "reorganization, merger" and various means were adopted by those teachers colleges in order to satisfy the people's demand for higher education, therefore a great number of teachers' colleges have been upgraded to newly-built regional university which still with their low level of professionalism of teachers. At present, in newly built comprehensive universities have come up against a great many of problems, such as the gradually lost of "normal" as well as "academic" has yet to be improved, the fulfillment of the combination of pre-service and post-service teacher education, the shortage of qualified students, etc. Actually the newly built colleges should absorb the "nutrition" from their "teacher specialist traditions" maintain and develop their traditional advantages—the professional teacher education as well as enhance their academic level so as to achieve the harmonious integration.In this paper, the author takes Sanming Teachers College as an example, analyses the historical inevitability of the College education for rural schools, and illustrates its characters from the education policy, cultivation target, teaching system characteristics, enrollment, distribution system and other aspects. Finally, under the analysis of those problems which teachers' colleges have come across, the author proposes his own suggestions to the teachers' colleges.
