Abstract: In our country to implement the development strategy of developing the country, the teacher in the position and role in the development of society more and more admitted by the whole society. This requires that the general physical education teachers in the practice of higher education, correct understanding of their work in the education of historical mission, the correct understanding of the characteristics of his career and value, continuously improve their comprehensive quality and practice ability, constantly adapt to the needs of the rapid development of social economy and education. In this paper, the profession characteristics of PE teaching in colleges and universities to carry on the analysis research, its purpose is to correct understanding of college PE teachers are engaged in their career, play advantage, provide a rational knowledge correctly.This article through the literature material method, interview method, logic analysis, data statistics, questionnaire survey research methods, analysis of occupation characteristics of PE teachers in Colleges and universities, the occupation characteristics of PE teachers in Colleges and universities is as follows.First, college PE teachers’ work autonomy. College sports teachers in addition to the rules of working time, basically no in office management system, if calculated on the average weekly workload, about30%or so of time dominated by teachers, it is for physical education teachers in colleges and universities have larger space, can take an active part in social activities, business training and academic exchanges, constantly improve their comprehensive quality.Second, college sports work has strong professional. Teachers take is not in office system reduced the communication between teachers, physical education teaching in colleges and universities new model system has been initially formed, the physical education teachers in colleges and universities teaching has more independence.Third, the prominent nature of physical education teachers in colleges and universities scientific research work. Scientific research work in colleges and universities has a prominent position, and today is the knowledge economy era, advancing the quality education is the theme of higher education, which requires colleges and universities sports teachers strive to improve scientific research consciousness, increase the content of science and technology college sports.Fourth, university sports work is social. College sports teachers’ social activities including social part-time, social sports services, second careers, the establishment and perfection of the socialist market economy and gradually improve the sports market in China, to our physical education teachers with their talent stage, they actively participate in social sports, sports market economy activity, constantly improve their ability.Fifth,the imbalance in human capital and income level. Physical education teachers in colleges and universities, colleges and universities physical education teachers have a higher degree, most universities require is a master graduate student or doctoral students. Only a minority of high theoretical level, or professional technology is outstanding undergraduate students.
