At present, science and technology is developing with each new day, and knowledge economy begins to appear. The comprehensive national strength competition is the education competition in the final analysis. Therefore in the present era, large numbers of innovative talents are needed who are able to adapt to the future social development. This sets a higher request to the elementary education workers.Facing the current education situation in our country, we must reform the traditional education model "Take the teacher as the center" in order to better develop our education. Physics is a natural science based on experiments. Only on the premise of active participation in teaching, can students learn physics well. It is the key to education for all-around development. Therefore, in middle school physics teaching, the independent study education model "take students as the center" must be implemented.This article first analyzes the present situation of domestic and foreign independent study research, and explains that independent study has a very deep historical origin both in and out of China. Then it introduces those problems existing in middle school physics teaching. Teaching is emphasized while learning is neglected. Teachers pay attention to knowledge instruction instead of ability training. The students' main function is not brought into full play. So it is necessary to implement independent study in middle school physics teaching. Chapter Three deals with the study theory, teaching thought, education model of the construction principle and theoretically elaborates the feasibility of implementing independent study in physics teaching for it conforms to student's cognition rule. Then the article summarizes several training strategies by combining teaching theory with practice. In the end, the author makes a practical study on how to implement independent study in middle school physics teaching. By taking the example of "the law of mechanical energy conservation", the author introduces the experimental process, result, experience, and so on in the topic research.
