With the social development and the implementation of the new curriculum reform, the traditional teaching-oriented teaching model can't meet the talents training requirements of modern society. Therefore, as a first-line secondary school teacher had to re-examine his own teaching ways and means. So to explore a kind of inquiry-based teaching model for junior middle school mathematics is to be the core subject of this paper. This kind of teaching model is not only easy to operate, but also suitable to the new textbook and the students' psychological, physical and learning characteristics.This paper composes of six parts. Part one, it has a review to the teaching model and put forward a viewpoint that to reform the traditional teaching model and to build a kind of inquiry teaching model. Part two, it has a summary to the junior middle school mathematics inquiry teaching model. Part three, it has a feasibility analysis to the junior middle school inquiry teaching model from the following aspects: the theoretical basis, the characters of the new junior middle school textbooks, the characteristics of the junior middle schools' students' Physiology, psychology, studies and the teachers' qualities. Part four, it has discussed the teaching principles and the teaching procedures of the junior middle school mathematics inquiry teaching model which we should follow, and also designed a teaching case. Part five, according to the constructed teaching model, we had done a experiment during the mathematics teaching in the grade one of junior middle school, and has a analysis to the experiment's results. Part six, it has a summary and reflect on this inquiry teaching model.As a kind of teaching model, it has the question solving as its main line and has the students' innovation spirit and practical ability' fostering as its purpose. What the originality of this paper is that combining with the teaching practice this paper has put forward a kind of junior high school mathematics inquiry teaching model which based on the analysis of the junior high school mathematics' characters and the junior high schools students' physical and psychological characters. Its steps are as follows: constructing context, proposing questions, organizing inquiry, co-operating and communication, applying and checking, consolidating and improving, multi-evaluating and ego-reflecting. After using experimental teaching to test the teaching model, we find that it is suitable to the new junior high school mathematics textbooks and also suitable to the students' study characteristics. And it also shows that this model can not only efficiently raise the students' interest in studying mathematics, but also benefit to cultivate students' good-qualities, such as active participation, cooperation and exchange, and to improve their mathematics results and other capabilities.
