College student's professional values are overall views formed in study and social practice on occupational appraisal, vocational choice and professional orientation, which reflect their beliefs and attitudes on different occupations. It plays an important instructional role for college students'future working life.In recent years, along with the further development of market economy, the transformation of educational system and employment mechanism, college students'employment problem is becoming more and more prominent day by day. Simultaneously, college student's professional value orientation has demonstrated some new characteristics and tendencies. How to correctly analyze the characteristics of college student's professional value, and how to guide them to adapt themselves to the socialist market economy professional values, is an important task of college ideological and political work, as well as a new subject in vocational guidance. Therefore, there exists the necessity to probe into this subject here.Based on the predecessors'correlated theories, methods and research results, this dissertation scientifically examines the current changes and corresponding reasons of college students'professional value orientation, through an investigation carried out at some of the universities in Hebei province. Finally, solutions to how to enhance the qualities of college students'professional value education are recommended.The dissertation is divided into four parts.The first part defines the special connotation of college students'professional value, analyzes the contents of correct professional values and reveals the importance of setting up correct professional values for university student, through theoretical analysis of professional value. College students'professional value is an inseparable part of college students'outlooks on life. It is an overall view of college students on occupational appraisal, vocational choice and professional orientation. College students'correct professional value consists of correct professional orientation, scientific professional expectations, reasonable professional aim and scientific concept on professional development. It plays an important part in promoting their overall development and future professional development. The second part analyzes the complexity of college students'professional value and summarizes five features of present college students'professional value under the environments of market economy, namely, independence on forming professional values, realization on occupation appraisal criteria, diversification of professional value orientation, behavioral contradiction of vocational choices and idealization of professional expectations, through an investigation on college students'tendentious attitude and optional behavior on professional knowledge, vocational choice and occupational appraisal. All these features have shown an increase of college students'awareness of competition and autonomy under the environments of market economy. But, their professional value orientation is becoming diversified under the influence of various other factors. Especially, as for their vocational choice, pursuit of economic success and material comfort is being highlighted, as well as contradiction in choices. These undesirable tendencies on professional value orientation need proper persuasion and adjustment from teachers.The third part studies in-depth the factors that affect college students'professional value orientation. The external factors include the development of social economy, cultural transformation, change of employment system and reform of tertiary education, etc., as well as the formalization of moral education and inadequacy of professional guidance in college, the environments and methods of family education, etc. As for the internal factors, college students'professional value orientation is influenced by their knowledge of professional cognition, value orientation and general quality.The fourth part explores strategies on how to strengthen college students'professional value education. College students'professional value education is a complicated and systematic project, which relies on collective efforts. Therefore, this dissertation puts forward four proposals as the following. Firstly, the contents of student professional value education should be elaborated and the key socialist value education should be highlighted. We should guide the college students on establishing correct value orientation in their individual development. Professional cognition education should be employed to help the students form stable vocational attitude and noble vocational motivation. Education of proper professional expectations should also be enhanced to help the students'set up a correct occupational aim. We should promote the professional quality education, thus to give assistance to college students to improve their professional capabilities and acquire good professional morality. More emphasis should be put on psychological education on vocational choice. In this way proper professional expectation can be formed to improve the students'resistance to setbacks and social adaptation. Secondly, we should make our students grasp the two basic basic principles concerning how to set up proper professional value orientation. One is the unification of individual development and social development, the other refers to the unification of individual value and social value. Thirdly, we should make innovations to the forms of professional value orientation. We should fully implement the leading role of ideological and political work, the influencing role of campus culture, the nurturing role of social activities, the educational role of professional guidance, the inciting role of measures and policies and the motivating role of self-cognition.At last, we should optimize the environments of professional value orientationAs the development of the market economy, profound changes have taken place in their objective environments of professional value orientation. We should establish good institutional environments, create better cultural environments, build good nurturing environments, recreate a good environments for employment and thus making great endeavor to upgrade the results of college students'professional value education.
