With the enrollment expansion of graduate education, more and more students with different professional orientation choose graduate education. China began full implementation of professional master degree of education since 2009, together with the existing academic degree of master constitute the training mode of master of education stage in China, This is not only to adapt to social development of different types of talent demand, also provide a variety of choices for different professional orientation of students, In a move that both have important significance in promoting social development and individual development. The pursuit of a high level of education quality is the inevitable requirement of the education goal realization and maintain the vitality for both Academic type master and Professional master. The existing evaluation indexes of the quality of education, placed the personnel training attention in an important position, the condition of Graduate study engagement has also become an important dimension.In graduate education, everyone who directly or indirectly involved in postgraduate education activities will have more or less influence on Graduate Education, And the graduate student himself, as the main body of graduate education, directly participate in the activities of graduate education, their intention, demand and interest on academic directly affect the enthusiasm and devotion of learning. This paper start from the professional orientation of different types of graduate students, to investigate the effects of professional orientation to Graduate study engagement in order to find a way to improve the level of study engagement. This research combined the method of qualitative research and quantitative research to discuss on study engagement which is a hot-spot issues and has a certain theoretical and practical significance.This research based on the classification of occupation interest, combined with the current postgraduate training objectives, to determine the main options of postgraduate professional orientation; use Questionnaire of College Students’ Learning Engagement composed by Liao Youguo which includes three dimensions:cognitive, emotional, behavioral. I investigated the present situation of all three grade postgraduate for their professional orientation and study engagement. Then through the way of mathematical statistics to analyze the raw data, the survey show that:(1)The students hold the academic occupation orientation to a smaller proportion of the master. (2)On different majors, students of art majors hold the highest level on study engagement. (3)On different professional orientation, students of academic occupation orientation hold the highest level on study engagement. (4)The relationship between occupation orientation and learning engagement of different types of postgraduate degree are also different, For the academic master, the students who hold academic occupation orientation pay most in study; for the professional master, the students who hold occupation orientation of teaching engaged most in study.According to the survey results, this study proposed measures to improve the level of study engagement base on student’ professional orientation, Include:Reform the educational model, provides choices for different occupation orientation of students; Reform curriculum design, enhance the ability and cultivating interest on occupation; Make good use of tutors; Select the appropriate graduate education mode from its occupation orientation.
