China has implemented the strategy of invigorating the country through science, technology and education and the strategy of reinvigorating China through human resourcedevelopment. China continues to reform the education system; graduation employment isgradually changing from planned allocation to self-employment. As a special group of collegegraduates, the employment of poverty-stricken graduates is widely concerned by society and theauthority. As the higher education developed continuously in China, the number of poverty-stricken students gets larger sharply since the enrollment expansion in1999, the employmentsituationisincreasingly serious, and ithasbecomea prominentsocial problem. The professional value orientation of college graduates has drawn great attention amongthe universities and society. Many scholars have also done a lot of deep research, more andmore colleges and universities put the employment guidance into the students’ educationalsystem. In order to better grasp the current professional value orientation of poverty-strickenstudents, this paper conducted a survey from four universities in Inner Mongolia with the wayof questionnaires. This survey provides practical basis for research of the professional valueorientation, it is important in theoretical value and practical guiding for people to guide theemployment. The questionnaire showed us the professional value orientation varies between poverty-stricken students and non poverty-stricken students; we can see that point from the aspect thatpoverty-stricken graduates desire to get quick success. Analysis shows that the occupation valueorientation of poverty-stricken students is the result of four factors, which are school, society, family and individual. To give the proper guidance to such poverty-stricken students, thegovernment should change their functions in order to create a good employing environment forthe college students. Colleges and universities should take the market as the guidance, continueto deepen reform, complete the students’ employment guidance and psychological counseling;further strengthen the guidance on occupation orientation of poor students, so they can evaluatethemselves subjectively, adjust the employment expectation into reasonable one, and they willhavegood psychologicaldiathesisand employing skills.
