The education marks of the Grade 9 students decide whether they can enter key high school or not, and even will have an indirect influence on their developmental direction. Therefore, how to improve Grade 9 students scores has become a hot topic in school education and family education as well. Among the acquired factors which influence marks, self-learning abilities matter most.The study researched the self-learning condition of 546 students from Zhenheng Middle School, which also look into the relationship between their self-learning abilities and marks, with the reference of Primary and Middle School Students Self-learning Scale Forms by Professor Pang Weiguo.This study draws conclusions as follows:1. Self abilities are at the middle or even lower level and differ a lot in different classes, genders and study levels.2. Self–learning abilities are in direct ratio to their marks. The former have prediction to the latter.3. Study motives are in direct ratio to study strategies. The former can elaborate 36.7% changes of the latter.4. Self-learning abilities and marks with the result of different self-learning abilities manifest differently among different classes, genders and study levels.
