Scientific selecting materials is the beginning of sports. The athletic scientific selecting materials according to the characteristics and requests of different events, using the means and methods of modern science, through the test of the objective index, comprehensive evaluation and prediction, selects the superior inborn. It suits the talented persons who are engaged in a certain sport to be selected out since the childhood, carrying on the systemic development, and monitoring their development trend continuously.The article studies the current situation of specific step method,body shape,physiological function,physical quality and psychology selection for middle distance runners with the object of young middle distance runners in Heilongjiang by using literature consultation, mathematical statistics, and so on. It further making the athletic members'selecting materials system establish and be sound, and making use of the software of SPSS to analyze each test index result and the relativity of selecting materials of middle distance runners. I classify the disposition and temperament type of excellent middle distance runners of Heilongjiang, getting detail selecting materials evaluation content. At the same time, it also provides some references on selecting materials for the sport workers of other regions.
