With the development of society, the quick changes are happening in the modern family, which is confronted with austere challenges. Comparatively, society requests higher the parental quality and more parents have to take more press and work harder. More and more attention is being paid to the parental education quality regarded as the key factor affecting the success of family education, especially that in the primary and middle schools at the basic education phase, which has been one important project being studied heatedly. Considering family education research in China, however, there are few studies on the parental education quality, and fewer studies on the parental education quality in the urban and rural areas.Hereby, this thesis regards parents of students in the primary and middle schools at the basic education phase in Zhangshu, Jiangxi as the research objects, and analyses their education qualities. Its main contents include the following:Firstly, regarding the pedagogy theories, the sociology theories, the psychological theories and the relative policies as the guides, it discusses the significance and the train of thoughts and defines the parental education quality of students the educational quality of parents in the primary and middle schools in the urban and rural areas in this research on the base of literature summaries.Secondly, basing on the actual questionnaires and interviews, it did the concrete analysis to the parental education quality in the primary and middle schools in the urban and rural areas and compared them by using SPSS13.0. Meanwhile, it opened out the commonness and differences in the parental education quality of students in the primary and middle schools in the urban and rural areas (containing educational idea; educational behavior; educational ability ) and took apart the reasons.Thirdly, combining the differences between the urban and rural areas and the local facts, it gave the suggestion and countermeasures to ameliorate the parental education quality in the primary and middle schools in the urban and rural areas consequently. The thesis considers that during the course of practice, related policies and rules of law should be constituted. Schools for parents should be popularized and ameliorated. Learning communities should be actively founded. Study families should be encouraged to set up. Excellent experience of family education at home and abroad should be used for reference. Various guidance forms of family education should be searched. If multiple channels are exerted comprehensively to form resultant force, the parental education quality should be developed and advanced in modern family education.
