Originating in the western countries, Inquiry Learning, as an effective and efficient way of learning, help learners construct their own knowledge which not only benefits themselves in their real life but also stimulates their increasing abilities of critical thinking and their developing abilities of creativity. Inquiry Learning is such an approach of learning , based on learners own learning background and their real life , releases learners from accepting knowledge passively that learners themselves build their own knowledge by inquiring and thinking. Thus, learners prepare themselves for the future life. Inquiry learning is not only a successful learning approach both in curriculum which is different from others, but also a wonderful learning method many teachers used in their everyday classroom teaching.In this thesis, readers can get a clear picture of the development of Inquiry Learning both in western countries and China. Although Inquiry learning, as a successful learning approach, was introduced into China only for about eight years, it has established itself as one of the effective approaches popular in classroom teaching. Readers can also learn the two main forms of Inquiry Learning conducted in classroom teaching in China. One is used as a theory and method in an Inquiring Learning Curriculum; the other is used as an approach in everyday classroom teaching.This thesis will guide readers to a field of an experimental research which originates from the ideas of the combination of "problem-based learning" and "project-based learning". Readers will see the detail information of the process of this experimental research and the results of it.
