Collaborative Learning, as a teaching strategy for classroom instruction and management, is used in a wide variety of teaching contexts. Since the early 1990s, researchers and teachers in China have begun to pay attention to the study of Cooperative Learning.For a long time, English Writing has been neglected in the English instruction. In the last few years, teachers have paid little attention to the writing, have no systematic writing instruction and do not solve the problems in the process of writing. The monotony of teaching method leads to little interest in writing. The effect of students is not fully exerted and there is no interaction among individuals, students and teachers. In order to change it, teachers must form new notion of instruction, new notion of students, new notion of learning, pay more attention to English writing process, help students to build up the attitude for loving learning, emotion of active learning, skills of learning to learn, spirit of co-operation and abilities of self-taught. Co-operation learning is believed not only to help to form the active relations but also to give an active emotion on the development of intelligence and non-intelligence.If Collaborative Learning of general writing is constituted in practice, it will not only help train the cooperative awareness and skills but also promote the development of the qualities of students. It is essential for the students to learn concern, communication and study.The thesis focuses on how to train the active motivation, good cooperative attitude, stronger cooperative skills and creative awareness and abilities in cooperation study, The author tends to apply Collaborative Learning to teaching writing in high schools by firstly presenting the basic theories and ideas of Collaborative Learning. Then after analyzing the present situation of the teaching of writing in high schools, the author introduces to us the problems the students face. At the end of the thesis, the author reflects and analyses some misunderstandings and present some strategies.
