This article mainly researches the application of "problem solving" teaching model in biology teaching. The new course of the biology puts emphasis on "Problem-Inquiry. After reflecting the normal teaching method, I put forward and apply the "problem solving" teaching model to the biology class, trying to change the way of teachers' teaching and students' studying and develop the ability of creation and practice to achieve the demand of new course. "Problem solving" teaching model is proved to be suitable in the new course.Firstly, I make a systematic study on the aspects of historical origins and analyze the modern research into the model at home and abroad and point it out that it is necessary and possible for the application of the model in the class with the theory of philosophy and educational psychology. The arrangement of the module of PEP centralize problems and makes it possible to use the "problem solving" model in the class. With the combination of the features of new course and previous researches, the essay constructs a suitable "problem solving" teaching medal and the possible steps/, and state it in details in biology how to create the problems, how to guide students to put forward questions, how to understand their nature as well as the solutions to the problems and the assessments.According to the research result and the characteristics of our students, with Module 2 PEP, I apply the "problem solving" to the biological aspects of the definition, rule, history and model construction etc. With peer contrast experiment, I choose two parallel classes as the experimental sample. The "problem solving" method is used in the experimental class and normal method in the other class, and make a careful analysis of the students in two classes on students' interest, ability in solving problems and the experimental results. It is proved in the experiment that the "problem solving" method is more likely to arouse the students' interest and develop their ability in solving the problems. It is good for students to develop their ability of inquiry and scientific thinking, and for them to master the main points of biology. Therefore, "problem solving" method is a better way for the new course of biology than the normal way.
