A Research On How To Utilize Social Donation In Overseas Chinese Investing Universities

This dissertation analyzes social donations to universities. At first, the author introduces the overall situation of current social donations to Chinese university. Utilizing social donations is not only necessary for the development of our universities, but also feasible.Chapter two is devoted to analyze the current situation of social donations to university in the U.S. and China's Taiwan area. By comparing between these two area, the author inferred some successful experiences which we can refer when utilizing social donations in Chinese universities.Chapter three analyzes the present situation of social donations in four overseas Chinese investing universities. Especially, taking an example of Ningbo University, the author discusses the strongpoints and shortfalls in the process of attracting social donations to our universities.Chapter four is a conclusion part where several proposed measures are given. Although social donation is a non-investment and charitable behavior, the decision-making process is a result of interaction of three benefit-relating parties (donor, government, and university). Despite different donation behaviors, the donor's decision is determined by the relative incomes and costs through donations. So the author believes that both the local government and four overseas Chinese investing universities themselves should do more to get better outcomes in attracting social donations. The government should take measures to upkeep the donation cultivation and environment and safeguard benefits of donors. And universities should take measures to enhance organization function to attract more donors.Due to limitations of research ability and condition, the analysis of donors' behavior is not sufficient. Subsequent researches are needed to obtain more effective coutermeasures for attracting more social donations to universities.
