| In 21st century,scientific researches face some new challenges.The situation of researches has changed a lot.The calculations that can be performed and the information that can be archived and used are exploding.With the development of computer and telecommunications Technology,new era of scientific research has come.In this situation,National Scientific Fund(NSF) defined Cyberinfrastructure (hereinafter referred to as the CI) as the new research environments that support advanced data acquisition,data storage,data management,data integration,data mining,data visualization and other computing and information processing services over the Internet.In scientific usage,cyberinfrastructure is a technological solution to the problem of efficiently connecting data,computers,and people with the goal of enabling derivation of novel scientific theories and knowledge.In this environment, raw data and recent results are easily shared,and scientists collaborate not just within a research group or institution but also between scientific disciplines and locations.That is the ideal model of scientific virtual organizations(VOs) in universities and colleges.So,this paper suggests that there is a necessity to introduce CI to the scientific virtual organizations in universities and colleges,and operate these VOs on it.That will improve the VOs'capability of research,and help solve the complicated,interdisciplinary problems.Based on former analysis,the paper describes the definitions and current status of the scientific virtual organizations in universities and colleges and CI.Then,the situation of CI in VOs in china is discusses,and the barriers to contribution of CI is analyzed. Based on the case study of foreign VOs' CI,this paper suggested a reasonable structure of the contribution of CI to VOs in Chinese universities and colleges, including awareness raising,capabilities building,resources support,tools development,and organizational solutions.
