Universities and Colleges are the education organization to cultivate talents.The health conditions of teachers of universities and colleges,who are the foundation of high education,are directly related with the implementation of the state's strategy of prospering the nation with science and technology and influence the course of the development of social economy.With the rapid pace of reform,teachers in Universities and colleges are faced with huge pressure.The level of group health has degraded year by year.Quite a part of the teachers are in substandard health,which is considerably worrying.The aim of the research is to find out the characteristic and rule of physical exercises by teachers of universities and colleges in Beijing,have a grip on the current state of their attitude toward PE and motivation of sports,and analyze the factors which influence the behavior of physical exercises by teachers of universities and colleges in Beijing.Means of literature and data,means of questionnaire,means of statistics and analysis,means of interview and investigation and the like are applied in this research.Totally 652 teachers from different 15 universities and colleges in Beijing are investigated.The conclusion of this research is as the follows.1.The overall situation of the self-evaluation of health condition among the university teachers is not at all pleasant.The percentage of Low physique index,over weight or even obesity is getting higher and higher.On the health consciousness side,most people are trying to take healthy food,maintain routine life and conduct some physical exercises, to arise the level of healthiness.2.The attitude in taking physical exercises among the university teachers is quite positive,but the situation of "high knowing low exercising" or "knowing but not doing at all" is also serious.The motivations in taking physical exercises are various,but all follow the modern healthy concept. 3.The frequency of university/college teachers' participation in physical exercises is lower than the standard of sports population.Most of the teachers haven't formed a good PE habits.The time spent on PE is comparatively enough,but the intensity is low.The frequency,time spent,and exercise intensity between different gender and age are remarkably different.The sport games involved are based on different interests and self-needs.The ones that need less investment,easier to be conducted,less equipments applicable are more welcomed,such as walking,jogging.Locations chosen are mostly PE facilities areas in governmental organizations or community health corners.The exercisers are basically voluntarily involved in the PE training and mostly alone rather than together with friends.Well organized activities are still far from enough.4.The reasons that caused non-participation in PE among Beijing university and college teachers are mostly as follows:heavy workload, tiredness,lack of spare time and no PE habits.5.The issues that influence the participation of PE among the university and college teachers are more than one.The most important issues lie in the attitude,spare time,PE education in school,mass communications,sports equipment and sports management.
