With more and more application of computer science,multi-media teaching becomes an important and widely used teaching method because of its rich capacity, vivid image and ease of understanding or remembering.The effectiveness of multi-media is not only recognized by most teachers,but also well demonstrated in many researches.Meanwhile,with its demand for rich information,diverse contents and standard pronunciation,English reading teaching in senior high school is becoming a new research focus in multimedia teaching.Based on theories of reading and CALL,the authoress of the thesis took into account both the features of multi-media teaching and English reading teaching in senior high schools and made a case study on the teaching of reading in Yi Qi Senior High School.After some theoretical studies and practical investigations,the authoress applied qualitative and quantitative analysis methods,studied the specific functions of multi-media in senior school English reading teaching,indicated how effective the use of multi-media can be in reading lessons,and proposed the conclusion and suggestions correspondingly.Chapter 1 introduces the research background,purpose and structure of the thesis, Chapter 2 is literature review of CALL and reading theories;and based on Chapter 2, Chapter 3 states the research content,methods design and research procedure,and that is,how an English teacher makes use of multimedia in reading teaching and how effective the use of multimedia can be in reading lessons.And at the same time,the authoress presents the qualitative analysis of questionnaire and classroom observation here as well as the quantitative analysis of students',score of the two English reading tests.Chapter 4 focuses on empirical data collection and analysis,and Chapter 5 is the final conclusion and suggestions for further study.The thesis,starting from qualitative analysis and referring to quantitative analysis,drew the conclusion and suggestion finally.
