The rapid development of information technology brought about by electronic technology as the core of the various media , namely, the rapid development of multimedia technologies. As early as age 70 in the last century, computer-assisted second language learning was applied to. Since the 1990s, multimedia technology- assisted foreign language teaching has gone into a new era. With the advantage of the information age and the growing international exchanges, foreign language learning is increasingly important.High school English reading teaching is an important content. It is also an important means for students to gain knowledge. The "High School English Curriculum Standards (experimental)" issued by Ministry of National Education also emphasized multimedia-assisted teaching of reading in English can develop students'ability to apply comprehensive language. However, there are high-school English reading teaching practice, but not very wishful. Reading method is still very traditional . The result is that independent cooperation of students'English reading ability is extremely poor and extremely low efficiency of reading instruction . In view of current high school English reading teaching the existence of practical problems, how to effectively open up a new way of reading instruction and to seek effective reading method make it necessary to improve the efficiency of high school English reading teaching .This study is divided into seven parts. First, I explain the background of this study, research questions and research significance. In the second part, I describe the current international research in this area , the status quo and define the teaching of English reading, multimedia and multimedia teaching. In the third part, I introduce research methodology of this study : literature, questionnaire survey method and action research method. By way of a questionnaire to investigate and study , I make an investigation to the students I teach in Jinzhou High School, to verify the feasibility of this study and the research results .In the fourth part, I recall the emergence of multimedia-assisted teaching and the development process in China . In the fifth part, I introduce present situation and problems about the use of multimedia in high school English reading teaching. In the sixth part, in order to verify the feasibility of exploration and practice to this study the use of multimedia technology-assisted teaching high school English reading , through the development of action plans, designing action programs and action plans for implementation in teaching practice, I check the multimedia-assisted teaching high school English reading . Practice to carry out the questionnaire and the final data analysis illustrates the multimedia-assisted teaching high school English reading superiority.
