Because information technology is developing fast,the application of multimedia in teaching is becoming increasingly popular.The application of multimedia can inspire students' learning interest,improve the students' attention,improve the teaching efficiency,and improve students' comprehensive ability of English reading.However,there are some problems and drawbacks in the course of the application of multimedia.The author found that the researches related to the application of multimedia in high school English reading teaching are relatively few through referring to the related literature at home and abroad.This paper investigates the present situation of multimedia application from 5 high schools in some city to find out the problems and defects existing in the multimedia English reading teaching in high school and provide feasible Suggestions for teachers and learners.This paper is based on constructivism and multiple intelligence theory and uses the literature method,questionnaire survey method and interview method.The object of the questionnaire and interview are teachers and students from 5 high schools.This article mainly investigates the following five aspects:multimedia configuration;teachers' multimedia operating skills;teachers' courseware ability;teachers' using condition of multimedia;teachers and students' views and attitudes of using multimedia.This paper is mainly composed of six parts.The topic background of this paper,the related research both at home and abroad,the purpose and significance of this paper,theoretical basis,and the core concepts of this paper are introduced by the first part.The second part introduces the research methods of this paper.The third part introduces the results of the survey and analysis,including the questionnaire and the interview.The fourth part based on the results and the analysis of the investigation,discusses the problems existing in the multimedia application in high school English reading teaching and the analysis of the reasons.The fifth part discusses the corresponding countermeasures for the existing problems.The sixth part introduces the conclusion of this paper and the author's reflection.This paper is based on the author's own teaching experience.The author hopes this research can have a certain guiding role in high school English reading teaching.
