By summing up the major education choice theories at present, the author takes education cost-benefit theory, cultural capital theory and social capital theory as research tools, sets up study assumptions, works out the questionnaire which based on existing theories, investigates and studies rural students' selection of general education and vocational education in senior phase. Then the author tries to make use of a variety of quantitative analysis methods, such as Independent-Samples T test, Chi-square test, Binary Logistic regression analysis and Factor analysis, to approach and analyze influence factors of selection. And at the same time, the author combines statistical analysis results with interviews of cases to further investigate some issues. The main conclusions are as follows:(1)Education cost and benefit, cultural capital and social capital have joint effect on rural students' selection of general high school and vocational high school. According to influencing degree (from most important to least) , the order is cultural capital, social capital and education benefit.(2)Cultural capital has an important impact on rural students' selection of general high school and vocational high school. In the family, relative and neighbour field, the cultural capital of family field affects it most, and in which the parents' attitude on the support of vocational high school is the most important and decisive factor.(3) Social capital has an important impact on rural students' selection of general high school and vocational high school. And the effect of students'academic performance in junior middle school which included in personnal social capital is very important. Its influence is just less than the parents' attitude on the support of vocational high school. Family social capital has an important impact on selection for general and even lower grade students, that is, the student whose family owns social capital will select general high school, and the student whose family lacks social capital will select vocational high school. While family social capital has little impact on selection for excellent grade students, that is, they will select general high school no matter how the family social capital is.(4)Education benefit has an important impact on rural students' selection of general high school and vocational high school. After finishing general high school, the possibility of passing college entrance examination affects the selection greatly. Its influence is just less than the parents' attitude on the support of vocational high school and students' academic performance in junior middle school. The family economic situation has an important impact on selection for general and even lower grade students, that is, the student whose family economic situation is good will select general high school, and the student whose family economic situation is poor will select vocational high school. While family economic situation has little impact on selection for excellent grade students, that is, they will select general high school no matter how the family economic situation is. Education cost does not affect the selection of general high school and vocational high school.
