Teacher-student relationship has always been a concern in the field of education. This thesis aims at studying different kinds of students' perception of teacher-student relationship of students at different educational stages and revealing their differences and changes, which will provide foundation and striving direction to improve teacher-student relationship.First of all, I analyze the conceptions and attributes of teacher-student relationship through the literature analysis, which will form three-dimensional analytical framework of students' perception of teacher-student relationship. Referring to several popular questionnaires, I design the questionnaire and interview outline. Secondly, more than 500 students of six elementary and secondary schools in Shanghai are asked to fill the questionnaires. At the same time, some students are also asked to participate in interviews. Finally, I use complexity thoughts and some appropriate educational theories to analyze the reasons of results, and try to give some suggestions on improving the relationship of teachers and students in the elementary and secondary schools. In this thesis, students' perception of teacher-student relationship is analyzed from three dimensions, that is to say, teaching relationships, social relations and general interpersonal relations. The survey results show that students at different educational stages have different views on the three dimensions of teacher-student relationship. Junior and high school students have close links with teachers in teaching relationship. Primary school students have close links with teachers in general interpersonal relations. There is no significant difference in the perception of social relations in the students at different educational stages. The studies have shown that the manifestation of the teacher-student relationship is single. Especially in secondary schools, teaching has become the main channel of communication. There is little development in the social relations between teachers and students and the general interpersonal relationships. I analyze the reasons for current situation of teacher-student relationship. Maybe the examination-oriented educational mode, the characteristics of students at different stages and openness of information society are the main reasons for the current situation of teacher-student relationship in elementary and secondary schools. Based on all these, several suggestions are put forward that we should establish a people oriented philosophy of teaching, have a comprehensive understanding of various functions of education, establish a wide range of evaluation system, and enhance the emotional interactions between teachers and students. As a whole, we should build harmonious relationship between teachers and students with the conception of scientific development, which can promote the development of teacher-student relationship in a comprehensive, coordinated and sustainable way.
