Facing the trend of the world curriculum reform, Shanghai started the second round of curriculum reform at the end of 20th century. In this new curriculum reform, the program files of basic education reform and curriculum standards were promulgated and put into operation gradually. Ten years has passed, the world has changed as well as education developes. It is necessary to compare the curriculum standards of other regions and learn their experiences so that it could improve the biology curriculum standard for high school in Shanghai.Hong Kong's biology curriculum rooted in Chinese culture, but it was deeply impacted by the United Kingdom for the historical reasons, and then gradually formed its distinct local characteristics. Hong Kong and Shanghai share a similar cultural background and economic conditions. Therefore, Comparation of biology curriculum standard for high school between Shanghai and Hong Kong has a strong practical significance to improve Shanghai's biology curriculum standard.This paper first introduced the education and culture background, then analyzes the curriculum standards and compares differences in the fields of their curriculum theories, objectives, contents and evaluation. The methodology of documentation, compare and analysis are used in this dissertation. The technical route is as follows: Description-Analysis-Comparison-Summary.The conclusions showed that both Hong Kong and Shanghai's biology curriculum standards reflect the worldwide trend of the development of biology education. There are some similarities, such as: the curriculum theories are advanced, the curriculum objectives is comprehensive, the curriculum contents cover the core knowledge of biology, and the curriculum evaluation system is all-rounded. However, owing to the different culture background, there are also some differences between Shanghai and Hong Kong's biology curriculum standard. The differences of standard are as follows: the coerciveness of curriculum implementation, the curriculum setting of biology curriculum, the concern of students' career preparation, the scope of attitudes and values education, the option of content-based courses, as well as the concept of curriculum evaluation and interoperability and so on. In addition, Hong Kong's biology curriculum standard also shows the inherent advancement: the curriculum theories are perfect, the curriculum objectives are reasonable, the scope of the course content is integrity, the guidance of curriculum evaluation is clear, and the curriculum implementation is feasible.Although Shanghai's biology curriculum standard for high school has achieved substantially, further adjustment is still needed. For example, to build a clear course structure with grads, adjust the time distribution of content-based courses, appropriately reduce the difficulty of content-based courses, strengthen the content of ecology and health, adjust the definition of learning level of the content, further strengthen the integration of the curriculum theories with the course content and the curriculum objectives, strengthen the safety education, make the curriculum implementation more binding, improve the section of the proposed activities, enhance the curriculum implementation, enhance the popularity of the expression.
