Facing the trend of the world curriculum reform, Hong Kong and mainland China started the reform successively at the end of 20th century. In this new curriculum reform, the program files of basic education reform and new curriculum standard were promulgated and put into operation gradually. Chinese Curriculum Guideline in Hong Kong is the first official Chinese curriculum file after the reunification, which influences the following Chinese reform directly. Meanwhile, the new curriculum standard in mainland is also the first Chinese curriculum file after the curriculum reform in the new century, which makes breakthoughs in curriculum theory, goal, content, evaluation, the compile of textbooks and so on. However, in the process of implementation, some problems occurred inevitably, so it is necessary to scan and analyze the curriculum standard again. The research aims to find out the similaritities and differences through the comparison between these two curriculum standards directly and systematically in hope to find some new ideas for the Chinese education reform.The first part of the paper compares the curriculum theory in Hong Kong and the mainland, thus discussing the similaritities and differences between these two curriculum theories.The second part of the paper begins with the curriculum goal, introducing the structure and characteristics of their curriculum goals and making comparison between them, thus annlyzing the similaritities and differences between these two curriculum goals.The third part of the paper compares the content of curriculums in these two areas and finds out the similarities and differences in words cognitive ability, oral communication, reading and writing, then introduces Chinese comprehensive learning method of the mainland.The forth part of the paper compares and analyzes the Chinese textbooks in Hong Kong and the mainland from two aspects, which are the drafting priciples and the characteristics.The fifth part of the paper emphasizes on the teaching method in these two areas, comparing the similarities and differences in teaching goals, reading, writing, oral communication and so on..The sixth part of the paper mainly introduces the evaluation standards in Hong Kong and the mainland, discusses the similarities and differences from the characteristics and the implementation aspects.The final part of the paper summarizes the whole Chinese curriculum reform in Hong Kong and the mainland and gives some suggestions.
