With the promotion and implement of Curriculum reform II, the Chinese textbook (trial version) for high school students is comprehensively used in Shanghai. This textbook, which is very different from the previous version of Curriculum reform I, carries out the idea of Curriculum reform II, and combine each unit based on the themes. There are nevertheless few articles that have analyzed and evaluated the reading materials in the textbooks in a comprehensively way.At the beginning of the century, Hong Kong started a new curriculum reform and issued the Leading of Chinese Curriculum for middle school and high school 2001, which is similar to the Chinese Curriculum Standards of Shanghai for elementary and secondary school. Under the direction of the programmatic document, the publishing companies in Hong Kong have started to write the new textbooks. The textbook written by Hong Kong Education Press (HKEP), which represents a characteristic version, is widely used by Hongkong students.Although the political system and life style between the two cities are different, they have a close connection in history and culture. Therefore, comparing the two versions of Chinese textbooks for high school students will help us to sum up the basic laws and experiences of the compilation of the Chinese textbook.
