Since the 21st century, the national strength competition has been mainly decided by talented person's competition, which makes education face great challenge. To adapt to the new situation, our country mainland started the new round elementary education curriculum reform. Hong Kong has the same cultural background as mainland. Its elementary education curriculum is shaped by integrating western and eastern civilization, from which we can learn some advanced idea. Besides, Hong Kong is developing the large-scale elementary education curriculum reform at present. Therefore, some profits will be given to mainland chemistry curriculum's development from our research on new chemistry curriculum in senior high school in Hong Kong.This paper studies curriculum standards as a carrier, using comparative method, statistical analysis method and literature method and so on. The comparative study is divided into two parts. The first part follows along the development process of chemistry curriculum in senior high school in Hong Kong, selecting the chemistry course before and after educational reform to conduct vertical comparison; the second part will select chemistry courses in senior high school in Shanghai to be compared with Hong Kong's new chemistry courses in senior high school as horizontal study. The comparison of both parts is made from the aspects of curriculum set, course objectives, course content and curriculum evaluation and so on.The results show that the new chemistry curriculum in senior high school in Hong Kong reflects the concept of international advanced courses and show the following characteristics: the curriculum manifests strong selectivity; the curriculum goal is full of feasibility; the chemical principle content and the STSE content are paid equal attention; the cultivation of scientific inquiry of students can be carried out and a systematic evaluation system full of creativity is built.Based on those characteristics showed above, some enlightenment is obtained to perfect chemistry course in senior high school in mainland: to strengthen the implementation of standards for the curriculum guide; to fully take care of students with different interests, abilities and needs of development; to pay great attention to procedural evaluation of students.
