On School's Group Morality

Group is the basic model of living for human being, It's seems like a question being forgotten that whether there is morality between groups? Men participate in activities with the status of being member of one group. Group is composed of individuals, but not simply one individual plus another individual, so the idea of a group is not simply one person's idea plus another one's. Group is differed from individual; there are individual moralities for human being to abide by, but rarely group morality. Even few people could be aware of that there are group moralities between groups. Reinhold Niebuhr, the most famous America ecumenical theologians in the 20th century, hold the idea that individuals are moral and groups immoral, or in other words, group morality is inferior to individual morality. His opinion differs from that of Marx's that group morality is superior to individual morality. From these diametrically opposed viewpoints, it seems that group morality is controversial, and also we can see the importance of group morality. Niebuhr held the pessimistic view about group morality, but he also believed that group as an object could become moral thought education.Upon this argument, this paper discusses group morality within the scope of school, describes several pictures about communications between groups, so as to analyze the deep-seated causes of group apathy and inharmoniousness. On this base, raise the question about school's group morality.This paper is divided into four parts:The first part: understanding group morality. Though the understanding of group and group morality, analyze the difference between group morality and individual morality, and raise the thesis--school's group morality.The second part: group morality in school. In this part, through the analysis of group communication, and their moral or immoral situation, this paper ascribe the immoral side to two aspects: the neglect of group and group morality, the imperfectness of school group morality.The third part: the affection and function of school group morality. In this part, analyze the impact of group morality on individual, group, and society, analyze the function that group morality play on student's moral promotion, on the perfection of theory of moral education, and on the construction of harmonious campus.The fourth part: explore how to carry out the education of school's group morality from four aspects: cognition, emotion, willpower and action.In short, school's group morality is a small part of group morality, the study of group morality is a diffraction of the study of group morality as a whole. With the study of school's group morality, make the moral environment on campus optimized, and improve student's moral standards, bettering moral education theory, and play as a pioneer to the study of social group morality.
