Due to long-term and huge occupational press,occupational burnout would occur.The occupational burnout is a psychological syndrome,including emotional exhaustion,lack of personal accomplishment and depersonalization.The teacher is one of the highest risk group of this psychological syndrome.Moreover,this would result in negative impact on teachers themselves,the growth of student,as well as the whole society.Therefore,recently the issue of occupational burnout of teachers has attracted more and more scholars. About this study,there are three aims:(1) get the general idea of the status of occupational burnout of elementary teachers in rural area;(2) find out the main reason for occupational burnout of teachers;(3) according to the above analysis,provide some proof to government for drawing the preventive and intervened policy.This study investigated 200 elementary teachers in H county. And the data was analysed with SPSS11.5 for Windows by way of descriptive statistics,compare means,One-Way ANOVA,Pearson correlation analysis and liner regression analysis.The results showed that:1.In H county,the degree of occupational burnout of elementary teachers was fairly serious.2.Some demographic variables significantly influenced the degree of occupational burnout of elementary teachers,such as marital status,degree,age,job experience time,while other demographic variables had no significant effect on theirs,including gender,income,whether he/she was on duty and which subject he/she taught.3.In H county,elementary teachers currently encountered extremely occupational stress,followed by role expectation, examination stress,workload stress,student problems,personal relationship and professional development.4.There is significant correlation existed between teachers occupational stress and occupational burnout.Role expectation, workload stress and examination stress would positively predicted emotional exhaustion.
