As education deepening reform has been a widely discussed topic for several years,educational concepts go deep into people's hearts.The purpose of education is to enable students to acquire knowledge and experience.As an old saying goes:"Travel ten thousand li and read ten thousand books." This illustrates the relationship between knowledge and practice.The research and application of Activity Theory in education has been developed for many years.However,it has not been applied effectively in test-oriented education.But in quality education,due to its profound theoretical basis and practice guide,Activity Theory will inevitably be widely used in modern quality education.This paper introduces the methods and principles of the Activity Theory to the network teaching platform LAMS,and puts forward the general model of Activity Theory Instruction Design based on LAMS.This model makes the instructional design based on network teaching platform become a more specific and operable,the designing process more easily.First of all,a survey is conducted on network learning,the current situation of network course and the learners' learning styles.The analysis of the survey data shows that students have an increasing demand for network learning,network course design and learning environment.Compared with the past network courses,the survey results show that the requirements of learners on learning tools and student's learning styles are more inclined to cooperate,communicate,coupling on self-study and scattered locations. Through the research on the basic concepts,courses of development,basic contents and principles of the theory,and the in-depth understanding of features and operation mechanism of LAMS system,a summary was made on the LAMS system's good support to the Activity Theory.Finally,the paper puts forward the general model of Activity Theory Instruction Design based on LAMS.According to this model,two themes of the instructional design are designed "Collection and Evaluation of Network Resources" and "I Design My Teaching".Then they are carried out in 2007~2008 Educational Technology Course in Huang Zhong Normal University.From the comparison of the situations and examination results of experimental class and non-experimental class courses,Activity Theory instructional design is conducive to good teaching results,and effective in raising students' achievements.
