The Interaction Between The Youth Internet Addiction And The Parent-child Relationship

With the rapid development of Internet, the issue of youth internet addiction has gradually become one of the main problems against adolescents' healthy growth and development. Adolescents' indulging in the network has many reasons, including family, school, peer groups, social environment, the characteristics of the Internet itself, as well as the reasons from the young people themselves.Via a family perspective, this article focuses on issues of parent-child relationship within the family. First of all, it divided the parent-child relationship in the family of young people who addicted in the Internet into four major types by the dimension of family education, including type of alienation, conflict, control and defective.And then it selected the corresponding cases of youth addiction from the family with the four types of parent-child relationship. With the demonstration of the families' parent-child interaction through the interview data, it showed one of the study found that poor parent-child relationship and negative parent-child interaction is the main youth internet addiction family reasons.Next, with the dimension of parent-child relationship, this paper divided the youth internet addiction into the type of emotion seeking, reality escape, passive resist and self-protection, as the "fruit" of the corresponding four types of parent-child relationship mentioned above. And then this paper analyzed the four types of youth internet addiction of the cases in study, displayed the second found of this study that youth internet addiction had a counteractive on the impact of parent-child relationship, which will increase parent-child relationship discord . Finally, this paper summarizes the above findings, combined the two together to form the conclusions of this study that poor parent-child relationship is the main family reasons for the Internet addiction of young people, youth internet addiction reinforced the discordant of parent-child relationship. There is a cycle interactive and interdependent relationship between youth internet addiction and parent-child relationship.
