Images Of The Others In The Senior High School History Textbooks

With the rapid development of the society, the international exchange is deepening. People's notion of education and curriculum updates gradually. The education and curriculum reform in China is carrying on. The textbook is the hot spot which the people pay attention to, because it is an important part during the reform. The research of the textbooks will be helpful for us to grasps the trend of the textbook's development. And it also provides the important reference for the new textbook's establishment.History textbooks as the core of the historical education are the important component of the historical curriculum. They will have the material effect to the young people's world outlook, outlook on life and values. Since the reform and opening up, China and the world has had the tremendous change. And the images of the others in the high school history textbook also changes along with the development of the society. It can be said that in this complicated and diversified environment, all sorts of factors will influence the image's mold and the explanation.This article selected four editions of the high school world history textbooks which are published in 1981, 1991, 2000 and 2007. With the method of the content analysis, the article shows the change of the images of the others that were constructed in the history textbooks in different time since the reform and opening up in China. At the same time, the article analyses the reasons of this transform. On the one hand it influenced by the development of history, on the other hand complex political, historical and the cultural context factor affects the construction of the images of the others. Finally, through the research and analysis below, the article will put forward some proposals to the high school history textbook's establishment.
