Positively carrying out the innovation education is the global trend now. The core of innovative education is training the students' innovative thinking, so we should pay attention to the cultivation of students' innovative ability in the Chinese course.The feature of the Chinese course is the integration of language and thinking. Its listening, speaking, reading and writing all require the elements of innovative thinking. This paper discusses about the necessity and possibility of cultivation of innovative thinking in teaching middle school Chinese reading with the teaching practice as its basis and innovative thinking as its guidance. In the writer's opinion, Cultivation of students' innovative thinking should start with intuitive thinking, inspiring thinking, divergent thinking and the awareness of asking questions. Meanwhile, correspondent teaching mode should also be applied, like the methodology of "three steps reading": pre-class self reading, in-class reading together, and after-class practicing reading. This mode of teaching can be very effective in cultivating the students' innovative thinking. Using detailed cases, this paper gives further explanation of this teaching mode. It is a methodology with the training of innovative thinking ability running through teaching with reading as its basis and the students as its main body. Teachers should pay attention to students' self reading and self comprehension, encourage the students to explore actively, raise doubts bravely, and solve problems independently, these internal mechanisms are the activities for innovative thinking. With maximize the mobilization of students' enthusiasm and initiative, it will help the students form the habit of learning independently.
