With the rapid development of the widening world markets and the globalization of the world economy, learners are required to be able to communicate with each other, understanding and appreciating each other inter-culturally. Cultivation of ICC in the teaching of reading in senior high schools is a very complicated human behavior. It mainly relies on the teaching on reading competence, cultural competence and communicative competence. The thesis analyses necessity of cultivation of ICC and presents the supporting theories which have been researched by the scholars. With the purposes of improving students'ICC, improving students'reading ability concerning cultures and improving students'synthesized abilities of English language, principles of being interrelated, being appropriate, being scientific and being flexible are raised to guide the methods of cultivation of ICC in high school English reading class. The methods include eight parts and each plays its role in the practice. At the same time, it is also mentioned that no method is designed to be used individually. That is to say, teachers should try to combine the methods according to the materials. To test and verify what the thesis focuses on, a case study has been conducted in the author's school. Although the results could not represent the general situation, they could partly prove that it is undoubtedly efficient to cultivate ICC with the help of principles and methods. Some constructive suggestions then leave enough room for others to do further in the field. Generally speaking, cultivating ICC in the teaching of reading in senior high schools is a long process and a hard task. Teachers and students should keep on working hard.
