It is well known that science and technology constitute a primary productive force, yet the physics knowledge is the foundation of modern science and technology. Undoubtedly, physical education will be faced with significant reform and challenges. Physical education should be the implementation of quality education. In addition, the teaching model, which used to pay attention to the knowledge teaching and the students'capability of examination, should turn to focus on the overall development of students and cultivate innovative and creative talents. Thus, compared the physics textbooks of high school published by Mainland and those published by Hong Kong, it's practically meaningful for the teachers to expand their horizons and change their educational conceptions: Furthermore, this benefits to deepen their understanding of the physical education and learn from each other, which can not only promote the reform of physics teaching in high school; but also helps to explore the universal law of physics education. In this thesis, by use of comparative analysis, case study and questionary approach, the two sets of physics textbooks of high school, published by Mainland and Hong Kong, respectively, have been chosen to investigate the common features and the difference between the two sets of textbooks.First, from the view of the overall comparison, the status and features of physics textbooks in Mainland and Hong Kong have been explored. Mainland textbooks chosen to study are " physics textbooks of ordinary secondary school curriculum standards " published by People's Education Press in May 2004 (the first edition), which include a compulsory 1, 2 and selective 3-1.3-2,3-3,3-4,3-5. Hong Kong textbooks chosen to investigate are a series of "NEW PHYSICS AT WORK" published by OXFORD UNIVERSITY Press in 2006, which include 1A, 1B, 1C and 2. Secondly, the two sets of physics textbooks have been systematically compared and analyzed from the various views, including the teaching content, the organization structure of the textbooks, and the cultivation of the students'learning capability.Thirdly, take"Free Fall"as an example, the common features and the difference of the two sets of textbooks have been discussed, according to the teaching content, knowledge structure of the textbooks, as well as training the students'learning capability. In conclusion, on the basis of the investigation and analysis, the common features and the difference between the two sets of physics textbooks have been comprehensively investigated, which provides a useful guideline for the researchers to edit and revise the physics textbooks in the future.
