New Ways Of Teenager's Moral Socialization During Social Transformation Period

China is now undergoing a profound social transformation from planned economy into market economy. While previous social norms and moral values existing in the planned economy were overthrown, new concepts are not well established and the efforts to set up new social ethics are not enough. The dramatic changes in social norms and morals have obviously affected the teenagers. Teenagers are pushed into troubles in the process of moral socialization and can not achieve properly the goal of moral socialization.This thesis discusses teenagers' moral socialization from three aspects. First of all, it points out the problems in teenagers' moral socialization during social transformation. Comparing teenager's moral indiscipline with the government's concern about it, this thesis reveals the deficient roles of the traditional ways in the process of teenager's moral socialization. While family, school, and society play a poor role in moral education during the social transformation, such new channels as the internet, mass media, life space and peer groups have drawn much attention from the public and become important elements that are crucial to the success of teenager's moral socialization. Then, it analyzes the functions of the internet and other mass media, the life space and peer groups of the youth, in teenager's moral socialization. Through the analysis, it explores the various reasons that influence Chinese teenagers' moral socialization, and then the solutions to it. Thirdly, it argues that since teenagers' moral socialization is critical to the future of our nation, effective networks of moral education should be established, particularly western countries' lessons in the moral socialization of the youth should be learned, the new channels that influence the moral socialization should be properly made use of, and the combination of theory and practice should be emphasized, so as to promote the process of teenagers' moral socialization.This thesis is original in its elaborating of the new ways that influence teenagers' moral socialization and in its combination of western countries' experience in teenagers' moral education and China's efforts in searching the ways to achieve the moral socialization of the youth during its social transformation.
