"Perfectionism" refers to the personality that people pursue high goals for everything, do not forgive their own demerits, and make the success or failure as the standard to assess themselves. Researches show that perfectionism brings people both senses of the success and frustration. Positive and adaptive perfectionism is clearly worthy of the advocacy, while the negative, non-adaptive perfectionism may make us fall away from goals and the sense of the happiness. There are three dimensions in the perfectionism; they are "high standards", " orderliness " and " discrepancy ". The two formers reflect the adaptive characteristics of the perfectionism, and the latter reflects the non-adaptive characteristics. Pursuiting the maximum success is the significant feature of sports, which makes people have a tendency to perfectionism. Therefore, it is not hard for us to get the question that if the physical education majors have the better characteristics of perfectionism or not. Comparative study on the adaptive and non-adaptive characteristics of perfectionism between the physical education majors and non-physical education majors is valuable for us to know the personality of physical education majors and guide their training.We can come to the conclusions as the follows by making cooperation on perfectionism between the physical education majors and other majors.(1) The difference in the total average scores of the perfectionism between the physical education majors and non-physical education majors is not significant. (P=0.562)(2) The difference in the dimension of high standards between the two groups is significant. (P=0.004)(3) The difference in the dimension of orderliness between the two group is significant. The physical education majors get the much higher scores than other majors. (P=0.004)(4) The difference in the dimensions of discrepancy between the two groups is not significant (P=0.173)(5) The differences in personality and all dimensions of perfectionism between the male group and female group in universities is not significant(6) The differences in all dimensions and total average scores of the perfectionism are between the physical education majors who have the different motivation are not significant. Statistics show that the differences in the basic dimensions and total scores of the perfectionism between the physical education majors is not significant, no matter the majors have the internal or external motivations(7) The differences in all dimensions and total average scores of the perfectionism between the physical education majors who have the different stability of sports are not significant.(8) The differences in high standards of perfectionism between the physical education majors who are different in level of sports is significant, while the differences in the orderliness, discrepancy and total average scores are not(9) For non-physical majors, Statistics show there are not significant differences in the orderliness, discrepancy and total scores on perfectionism no matter their exercise good or average. But there is significant on high standard, good exercise person are higher than poor exercise person.(10) research show good exercise person performance better on "high standard" than others who have poor exercise. Sport exercise is benefit on development of personalities.
