Be accompanying the spring tide that the world curriculum reforms, our country have started the eighth elementary education curriculum reform in the new turn of the century. The new curriculum reform put forward a series of new and higher requirements to the teacher on teaching concepts, teaching behaviors, teaching methods and means. Teachers are the perpetrators and interpretation of curriculum, only through the implementation and interpretation of teachers, can curriculum be better accepted and understood by students. The adaptation of teacher quality to the new courses is the key of new courses implementation smoothly. So strengthens this aspect the research is the urgent matter.Geography teachers of junior high school in the city of Xintai in Shandong Province as study object. Based on in-depth analysis of the New Curriculum and new materials, understanding of the teachers'qualities ought to be in the geographical context of the new curriculum, using of questionnaires, interviews and classroom observation, and other methods, research the current status of the junior high school geography teacher quality in Xintai city. After tidying and analyzing the data , we find that teachers'adaptation is not as optimistic as we have imaged .Although some teachers have basically adapted to the new curriculum reform, there are still many problems and maladjustment. Here are the problems:1, geography teachers have the psychological maladjustment to the new curriculum reform.2, the knowledge structure and ability of the geography teachers'is hard to adapt to the development of new courses.3, high self-evaluation, there are deviations between the understanding and action.Through further analyzing their adaptation situation, we find factors that cumber teachers to adapt: education ideas of teachers'cannot be truly changed; regular thinking tendency teachers are short of new knowledge. At the same time, evaluation system lags behind; the external supportive environment is adverse; teacher training courses can not meet the new requirements for teacher; the new curriculum itself is still not perfect, and so on.On the basic of pondering and analyzing data above, combining with my teaching experience and experience, we put forward some suggestions:1, teachers should improve their own quality conscious, and actively adapt to the new curriculum;2, to further speed up the follow-up of teacher evaluation system;3, to create a good environment for the implementation of the new curriculum;4, follow-up to carry out targeted and effective teachers'training;5, to further improve the new curriculum in practice.This study change the concerns from the perspective of the implementation of the new curriculum and the teachers ought to be realistic to the difference between the situation in practice the new curriculum teachers really ran with the situation ought to be, in-depth and detailed investigation and analysis On situation of the junior high school geography teacher adapt to the new curriculum, Reflects the general problem the current junior high school geography teachers to adapt to the new curriculum, provide a reference and learn for the new curriculum managers, researchers and practitioners, and also have some reference to other areas and other disciplines.
