The Current Situation, Issues As Well As Solutions Towards Students Facing Financial Problems In Northwest Normal University

With the ongoing reform of China's higher education system, colleges and universities implement "unified" system and the charging system. The enrollment is expanding and the higher education significantly speeds up the pace of development. The overall size of universities has a historic breakthrough so that higher education is gradually popularized. At the same time, the number of students who have financial difficulties is increasing year by year. Problems existing in the material and spiritual dimensions among them are becoming more prominent and now it becomes a social problem which can not be ignored.In order to help college students get out of financial difficulties, our nation, society and universities are actively exploring and adopting a series of measures. In so doing the system of financial aids are gradually improved, including "awards, credits, subsidies, taking part-time jobs and exemption from tuition fees". These measures play a very important role in helping students with financial difficulties to some extent. However, there have been many problems in the course of the actual operating. From the perspective of education fairness, the study makes a survey and interview on the financial aids system in Northwest Normal University, and gets the concerning data. The thesis describes the current situation of financial aids system in Northwest Normal University and analyzes the existing problems in actual operation, such as insufficient participation of social forces, scarce work-study positions, slow development of the national student loans and so on. Finally the thesis puts forward corresponding solutions combining actual situations: poor natural environment, slow development of economy in Gansu, large source of students, great number of minority students in Northwest Normal University.
