Secondary vocational education has an important position in vocational education system in our country. Different of general education, it is for the purpose of training skilled personnel, also is most closely connected with the local economy. In the recent years, Nantong is in key period of adjusting the industrial structure and rapidly developing the economic which requires a lot of high skilled personnel and makes secondary vocational education of main provider of the local skilled personnel facing the unprecedented opportunities and challenges. Secondary vocational education is a quasi-public goods, so it can not develop without the support of effective government actions. Nantong government played a very important role action in the development of secondary vocational education in Nantong. However, seeing from the overall development situation of secondary vocational educational education, Nantong government has not fully play the role of secondary vocational education. So it is very important to address the current issue of the development of secondary vocational education by taking relevant measures.Under the guidance of basic theory of political science,management and sociology, firstly, this paper explains the direction of development and inherent potential of secondary vocational education by elaborating the situation of Nantong society,economic and manpower. Secondly, collection with the achievements and existing problems of Nantong secondary vocational education, this paper analyzes and discusses Nantong government's positive behavior and defects. Finally, the author put forward some targeted countermeasures and suggestions for the government's defects of the development of secondary vocational education.
