With the deepening reform of higher education system and intensified competition in job market, colleges and universities begin to carry out quality education, and improve training mode, which has become a trend in the world. At the same time, students professional quality of the evaluation methods also need to make corresponding adjustments. Now widely used by colleges and universities to evaluate students' professional quality is to take a weighted average. However, there are many deficiencies in this approach can not reflect the overall quality of students, which cannot promote the quality education. How to scientifically evaluate the professional quality of the contemporary college students has caused widespread concern.Principal component analysis (PCA) is a common method of multivariate statistical analysis. It can use a small number of indicators to approximate a lot of indicators and the large amount of the original information as much as possible. Principal component analysis can well suit to extract the statistical characteristics of multi-dimensional data, point out their importance, and use a few features to represent lots of system information. PCA is based on the contribution rate of variance for each principal component, which has strong practicability. In addition, the process of principal component analysis can be easily accomplished with the computer aids.Through the analysis of contemporary worldwide students' professional quality, we constructs a evaluation system which contains five aspects, that are basic level of knowledge, professional level of theoretical knowledge, learning ability, professional skills and comprehensive quality evaluation. We also develop a feasible implementation of the guidelines of how to use questionnaire as well as the points system. The raw collected data of college students' professional quality is imported to mathematic software, processed by the principal component analysis to calculate the various principal components, as well as the corresponding weights. According to the weights, a few selected components can represent more than 80% of the original information. This approach takes into account the overall quality of the students, avoids too much emphasis on the traditional evaluation system for academic deficiencies. The use of principal component analysis can also find some new factors that affect students' qualities. This evaluation method can help colleges and universities to improve training model, and promote the students to improve themselves and make our higher education more responsive to social needs.
