In the background of village self-governance and the building of new countryside, community participation is a powerful dynamic and an important means for community building, and peasants are the most important subject of rural community participation. The urban-rural fringe is between the center city and the typical agricultural areas, developing from rural to urban, peasant's community participation is especial. So, studying on peasant's community participation in the urban-rural fringe means a lot to the correct understanding the influence of modernization and the community building and community development.Based on the questionnaire survey and the interview method, this thesis described the cognition, motivation, contents, form and degree of peasant's community participation in the urban-rural fringe; gave a correlation analysis on the peasant's community participation; and discussed the constitutive restriction factors. The main conclusions are as follows:First, peasant's cognition of the importance of peasant's community participation is accurate, but their cognition of the main body of community participation is fuzzy, and the motivation are mainly the benefit consideration and the community sense of responsibility.Second, in the content aspect, the social participation are most, next is the political participation, the economical participation and the cultural participation are very few.Third, in the way and degree aspect, personal participation is the main form, organization participation is rare; the depth of community participation is insufficient, the majority remain in the level of attention, and just a few has carries out the behavior; Sharing in the results, there is unfair phenomenon.Fourth, there are individual differences of peasant's community participation. Representatives participate in the community public affairs or the activities in the form of organization participation, so their participation wish are more intense and participation behaviors are more than ordinary peasants. Ordinary peasants most participate in the form of personal participation, in which, the middle-aged and the peasants who work in the village participate relatively more.Fifth, the community approval and the benefit connection have the forward influence on peasant's community participation. The benefit connection influences the peasants working in the village, but it is not remarkable to the peasants who work in the village. The community approval has greater influence than the benefit connection.Sixth, the "subject" culture and the relational structure——"strong national - weak society" are the deep level constitutive factors of peasants' insufficient community participation in the urban-rural fringe. Finally, this thesis give some corresponding countermeasures and suggestions on how to promote the peasant's positive and effective participation in the urban-rural fringe.
