Research On Community Integration Of Floating Population In Urban - Rural Fringe

The development of urbanization and Chinese floating population have become the most important trend in China social change since the reform and opening up. In the process of urbanization, the urban-rural fringe issue appeared in the process of outward expansion of the city has become the focus of attention. The unprecedented urban and rural population migration in China makes the problem of social integration more and more prominent, and increasingly become the main content of academic research.According to the relevant scholars study, most of the floating population gathered in the urban-rural fringe areas of big cities. Therefore, this paper will focus on the urban and rural areas, to study the community integration status of floating population in these particular areas. This article will select a typical feature of urban-rural fringe community as a case study, to summarize the status of floating population community integration, discuss the promoting and restricting factors of community integration, and puts forward the countermeasures to improve the status of community integration by using questionnaire, interview and other methods to conduct a comprehensive in-depth analysis.In this article, the community fusion includes economic integration, social relations, community participation and community emotion. What has been found in this study is that the community integration in urban-rural fringe areas is still in a low level in general. Among which the economic integration degree is relatively high, followed by the social integration, community participation and emotion.The influencing factors of community integration can be divided into two aspects: on the one hand, the positive factors to promote community integration – the culture form is more inclusive in these areas, the community management is more looser and effective, the lower cost of living and rental housing, which provides more space and more favorable terms for the floating population in community; On the other hand, the obstructive factors are mainly include the unique dual management system in China and the special process of urbanization in which the urban and rural areas are easily become some kind of "City Island" which will form the residential segregation against the floating population. The floating population are also ostracized by the structural rejection which strengthened by the system design. All of these influencing factors make the floating population unable to get rid of the weak status, have the sense of exploitation, and influence of community integration and social stability.Through the above analysis, this article argues that the measures to improve the community integration status can not only stay in the community level. The most significant is the city community is the basic unit of social life, the social structure of the city. The integration of urban and rural migrants can achieve good community integration, the future development of this area will be directly related to social integration, a greater level of floating population and the social stability and harmony. True community integration needs from the system level to ensure fair, to be specific management and services at the level of community support, be admitted on a personal level. The most significant is the city community is the basic unit of social life, the social structure of the city. The integration of urban and rural migrants can achieve good community integration; the future development of this area will be directly related to the relationship between social integration, to a greater level of floating population and the whole social stability and harmony.
