As the rapid development of higher vocational education, people have gradually paid more attention to the educational quality of it. So, higher vocational colleges begin to transfer their college-running focuses from on expanding the scale of the colleges to building the connotation construction. Since the focus of the connotation building is to improve the teaching quality, teachers, the key factor of it, have been paid attention by the vocational educators. As the combination of work and study, a significant feature of the vocational education, has been affirmed, the talent cultivation model of it will certainly pose a new challenge to the teachers of the higher professional colleges. Therefore, the study of the teachers' professional development under the educational background of the combination of study and work has important significance for the higher vocational education development.This study, taking Taizhou Vocational and Technical College as a case, adopting the study methods such as literature research, questionnaire research and so on, find the problems of the teachers' professional development by making statistics of the teachers' basic situation and their professional background. Under the background of the work and study combination, there are two aspects of problem in teacher professional development which are the problem from teachers and the problem from colleges and social environment. The problem from teachers comes from the following cause: the insufficient recognition of the professional development, the lack of the new teaching ideas, the shortage of teachers' practice and academic research. Besides, the causes of the problem of colleges and social environment include the imperfect system of the on-job training, the deficient resources of the colleges, the inadequate support to the communication and cooperation between the teachers, the imperfect incentive mechanism to stimulate the teachers.To solve the problems of the teachers' professional development, the author suggests that the college should firstly strengthen the teachers' awareness of the professional development to establish the advanced higher educational ideas and promote their professional spirits. Then construct multi-tiered training system and establish mechanism to accelerate teachers' professional development. Lastly, create favorable environment for the professional development.
