The Curriculum reform in China indicates to transform the passive and subordinate role of students to be initiative and positive. As a positive learning style, inquiry-oriented learning is popularized worldwide. It is scientific, subjective and creative, based on reflecting and perfecting the traditional learning theories. Teachers play a key role in the success of inquiry-oriented approach. In this case, the study of the teachers'leading function is provided with important theoretical significance. Meanwhile, the study gets practical values since it helps connecting the teaching theory and practice.Based on Vygotsky's social constructive theory, which holds a key point that teaching should go front of development and teachers'leading role is needed in any teaching, this study makes an academic analysis on leading function of teachers in inquiry-oriented teaching with detail teaching cases. To begin with, we found the main questions of teacherssfunction in inquiry-oriented teaching from analyzing the literature and open questionnaire results. Currently, most teachers already know that they should play a leading role in inquiry-oriented teaching in theory. However, they don't know why we need lead, what we need lead and how we lead. That is to say, they don't know the function of themselves in the inquiry-oriented teaching. Just for this, they can't hold the point and were lead to laissez-faire or monopolizing everything. But both of them are not true leading.According to the above situations, this study reasoned that teachers should play the leading role in inquiry-oriented teaching from the features of itself. Inquiry teaching is constructive, situational and social, which ask for the leading function of teachers. In inquiry teaching, the leading function of teachers express in three aspects, which is to guide students to understand the characters of disciplines, to conduct them to achieve their maximum development, and to make inquiry activities goes well. These three aspects are interrelated, from general to specific.Finally, combined with the actual cases, this study discusses three methods of teachers'leading role in inquiry-oriented teaching, which are inquiry question, inquiry explanation, inquiry demonstration, and story leading respectively. Inquiry question is the most important method for teachers, which is creative, openness, derivative and challenging. Teachers need to question in right time and right extent. Inquiry explanation is also a common method used by teachers. Explanation is not "spoon-feeding". Teachers explain when students don't understand, when students can't go on the inquiry activity or misunderstand the multicultural. Inquiry demonstration can help students to get classic and abundant experience material and connect direct knowledge with indirect knowledge. So, students will understand the knowledge in depth, and will be trained the ideation.
