On basis of theoretical and practical research of English homework, the essay aims at the creative designing and implementing of task-based English homework for senior middle school students according to the requirements of Second Curriculum Reform, trying to improve the effectiveness of English homework.The task-based English homework refers to the kind of language communicative activities which are carried out by understanding and conveying the target language with a certain objective and reach a certain outcome. Such communicative activities are possible only when students have already had a good command of relative language knowledge and skills. The task-based English homework is the extension of classroom teaching and can make up for the limitations of classroom teaching to a large degree. Besides, it also acts as an organic part of task-based language teaching. In the process of using New Century Senior English textbooks, each item of task-based homework is designed in full consideration of students'different aptitude, with both high and low requirements of assignment in order to cater to all the students in the class. This task-based English homework can be regarded as a series of extensive tasks designed according to the theme of each unit. This paper follows action research methodology, which focuses on practical problems solution and highlights teachers'reflection. Accordingly the research, established on the teacher's action and reflection, deals with how to design and assign various task-based homework when using New Century Senior English textbooks and how to make English homework more attractive to all the students.In conclusion, the writer expects the research to offer some experience and reference to senior English teachers in understanding and implementing task-based English homework so as to help them develop more rationally designed homework to promote the development of students'personality under the guidance of task-based language teaching and the requirements of New Century Senior English.
