The Research Of Feasibility Of Setting Up A Tennis Teaching Methods Optional Course In Beijing Sport University

For a long time, there exists a problem in Chinese higher education, which is about the unreasonable proportion between compulsory course and optional course:there are so many compulsory courses while so few optional courses. As the society is developing and the right of choosing courses be delegated, how to raise the scale of optional course and complete the course system in order to bring up all the necessary capability which students need has become a big problem which educators must resolve. On the other side, in sports college, they put too much focus on nurturing students'sports skill but theory knowledge and teaching capability gain less attention. Because of the long leaning period and students'tennis foundation before college, tennis course in sports college has become a process of students to learn how to play tennis, and then they know very little things about how to teach tennis So this outstanding contradiction will exert unfavorable influence on the training quality of Sports College.In this paper, various research methods including investigation, documentation, expert interview, mathematical statistics and logical analysis are adopted to examine the current situations of the tennis professional course in Beijing sports university, and investigate tennis teachers and students who major in tennis in order to prove the feasibility of setting up a tennis teaching methods optional course in Beijing sports university.The results of the research show that:1. In Beijing Sports University, most Tennis majored students and the course teachers agree with the statement that present tennis specialized course teaching pattern doesn't give the students enough specialized teaching ability; tennis majored students have a high requirements for teaching method. 2. In Beijing Sports University, there are various unbalanced abilities among Tennis majored students in mastering tennis skills and teaching capability of tennis coach, and they show some commonality, which offer some reference to formulate optional courses in teaching method for tennis.3. In Beijing Sports University, there are enough excellent professional teachers and various well-equipped facilities to offer optional courses in tennis teaching method.4. In Beijing Sports University, most tennis majored students indicate approval for the opening of Tennis Training Method, and most teachers also consider it a reasonable complement for tennis specialized direction that to set up this new course. The optional tennis training method classes are not only suitable for students learning ability, but also totally agree with the training objectives of specialized courses and relevant rules of undergraduate course in Beijing Sports University. Therefore, by strictly sticking to the course assessment process for course application, this course can surely be set up.
