In the traditional tennis optional courses teaching in regular institutions of higher education, the teaching method is mainly based on subjective experiences, the teachers use programmed knowledge to take advice and evaluate the motor skills, and the students can only master the techniques by mechanical imitation and repetitive practice. Under the constraint of existing objective factors, this kind of simple"teach- learn"method has seriously block the development of tennis optional course in regular institutions of higher education. It is unpractical for regular institutions to construct more facilities, such as build new stadium, buy advanced tennis teaching equipments. With the consideration of existing teaching environment, this paper tries to increase teaching effectiveness and quality of tennis optional course in regular institutions of higher education through optimize teaching method and procedure and improve class control.This paper uses observation method, documentary method, interview method, statistic analyze method, questionnaire method and comparison analyze method investigated the tennis optional course situation of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China University of Geosciences, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law and Hubei University. The paper has combined the event characteristics of tennis and teaching objectives together, gave objective assessment and analysis to the weakness of existing tennis teaching method and content in regular institutions, and by starting from specific teaching content and method, it provided corresponding optimization of practical teaching. With setting experimental group and comparison group during practical teaching process, it made a contrast research of ground stroke skill between these groups. The intention of this paper is that optimize the teaching method and form of tennis optional course in regular institutions of Hubei under existing environment, so as to improve the teaching quality of tennis teaching. The research results show that:1.The optimization of teaching method can increase the students'interest and thinking capacity, it can also strengthen the interaction between teachers and students, and develop the obligation, trust, group honor and cooperation between students.2.The optimization of teaching procedure can stimulate the students'learning enthusiasm; improve their judgment and capacity of knowledge and skill using. It can also decrease the students'memory load and reduce the difficulty of motor skill structure, quicken the learning process and increase learning effectiveness.3.The optimization of class control can strengthen the communication between teachers and students. Pay attention to the language skills in teaching is propitious to enliven the classroom atmosphere so that the students can effectively learn the motor skills in a very good mood.
